Komen Advocacy Alliance

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Advocacy Alliance (KAA) is the non-partisan voice for over 2.5 million breast cancers survivors and the people who love them. Our mission is to translate the Komen promise to end breast cancer forever into action at all levels of government to discover and deliver the cures.

Take Action

Komen Advocacy Alliance Annual Lobby Day

The affiliate joined Over 300 Komen advocates visiting more than 400 Congressional offices urging their members of Congress to support the Cancer ALERT Act, the breast cancer EARLY Act and funding for cancer programs. Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Shultz, author of the EARLY Act, and Ambassador Brinker addressed attendees at the lobby day training. The following morning, before taking to the Hill, Affiliate representatives were encouraged by Ambassador Brinker, Rep. Israel, co-chair of the Cancer Caucus and Rep. Connelly to use their personal stories and passion to make change on Capitol Hill.

Advocacy Objectives:  The Advocacy Committee’s objective is to influence and educate local, state and federal public policy makers about breast cancer with the goal of increasing public investment in quality breast health, breast cancer care and breast cancer research.

We will be working with the other Komen for the Cure GA affiliates to create and implement a legislative agenda to take before the GA legislature to accomplish the above goals and objectives at the State level.

At the federal level, our committee will assist Komen National with its grassroots program designed to educate our federal lawmakers about breast cancer by hearing directly from their local constituent base in connection with legislative initiatives important to breast cancer.
